Students follow a broad and creative programme of study where they are introduced to the core skills of artistic practise. Cross-curricular inspired projects as well as art history and world cultures inspire students whilst expanding and strengthening their knowledge and understanding of colour theory, drawing, sculpture, pattern making and narrative art. Students create individual and imaginative artworks whilst exploring a variety of media including: paint, printing, papier-mache, and pencil.
Students build on the core skills learnt in year 7, developing and refining their technical abilities through exploring new and challenging media such as: watercolour, oil pastels, animation and textiles. Students expand their knowledge of art history through independent research projects and create bold, personal responses to the work of both contemporary artists and ancient artisans.
