Year 7Music

In year 7  students begin by investigating  use of their voices and the many way they can use it musically. After developing their singing abilities, students move on to keyboards skills and playing four chord songs. In the latter part of year 7 students investigate West Africa drumming and singing the blues.

Year 8

In year 8 students build on their skills learned in year 7  and compose music to words written in English.  Students undertake a world music module, researching Brazil and celebrating the joy of Samba. In celebration of the centenary of WWI students combine the work they have completed in English and compose a soundtrack to a monologue about war.

Riverside is increasing its peripatetic teaching which currently includes: Guitar, piano, clarinet, flute, trombone and trumpet. The extra-curricular programme 2015 consists of choir and band sessions.
